Practice Space location
CURRENTLY: Our practice space is at 281 Veterans Memorial Highway SE, Mableton, Georgia. There is a big sign out front that says "KOK." The sign has nothing to do with us, but it lets you know you're in the right place! Park in the front parking lot and enter the building on your left by walking around to the back of the building (straight ahead from the parking lot through the gate, past the dumpster and around the building). Please note: Atlanta Roller Derby is in the process of purchasing a forever home. Practice location and time may change in the immediate future. This will be communicated as early as possible! Potential location change to Golden Glide Skating Rink in Decatur.
No gear necessary at first! We have an incredible lending library for skaters to use and learn with. If you are ready to roll with your own equipment check out https://www.atlantajuniorrollerderby.com/gear
We are so excited to see and welcome you! Any questions please reach out to ajrd@atlantarollerderby.com or Hawkins.kimi.ajrd@gmail.com

Physical Exercise
At its heart, roller derby is a team sport that thrives on cooperation and communication. Each skater plays a crucial role in achieving a shared goal, whether they’re blocking opponents or leading the charge as a jammer. The league provides a supportive environment where kids learn to rely on their teammates, celebrate collective wins, and grow through shared challenges—skills that translate into every aspect of life.
Sportsmanship
Roller derby is a sport where respect for teammates, opponents, and officials takes center stage. Young skaters learn how to compete fiercely yet fairly, embracing victories with humility and handling losses with grace. By fostering an environment of mutual respect and accountability, roller derby helps shape resilient, well-rounded individuals who understand the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Teamwork
Roller derby is a high-energy sport that offers a unique way for young people to stay active and healthy. Skating builds cardiovascular endurance, strengthens muscles, and improves balance and coordination. Beyond the physical benefits, roller derby keeps kids engaged and excited about fitness by combining the thrill of speed with the fun of strategy, making exercise feel less like a chore and more like an adventure.
Our Trainers & Staff are 100% volunteers! AJRD has the total honor of being coached by many Atlanta Roller Derby skaters and we’re proud boosters of Atlanta Roller Derby and all ARD events!
The Heart of the League: Our Volunteers
Volunteer coaches, trainers, and staff are the backbone of our Junior Roller Derby League. Their dedication goes far beyond teaching skills or organizing events—they show up because they care deeply about empowering young skaters. With every practice, bout, and word of encouragement, these volunteers create a safe, supportive space where kids can thrive both on and off the track. Their commitment to being present and available ensures that every participant feels valued, inspired, and equipped to achieve their full potential.
